Life in the Palm is a bright, stylish two-bedroom villa set within a gated hillside resort at Tamarind Hills, on Antigua's calm west coast between the beaches of Darkwood and Ffryes. Compact but beautifully done, it is built around its view: a private infinity pool runs to the edge of a wrap-around terrace and seems to pour into the Caribbean below, with sun loungers and a barbecue for lazy days and sunset dinners. Inside, the villa is crisp and white, with an open-plan living and dining room, a full kitchen with an island, and two en-suite bedrooms that both look out to sea. It sleeps four, which makes it ideal for two couples or a small family who want privacy and a knockout view without the scale of a big villa. Better still, guests have the run of the resort's facilities, a beach club, a gym, a spa, a bar and a beachfront restaurant, all a short walk or buggy ride away, with a white-sand beach just below. Jolly Harbour, with its shops and restaurants, is a short drive, and the wider island is easy to explore. V. C. Bird International Airport is around a 35 to 40 minute drive.

The clifftop infinity pool and sea views would be the highlight of a house twice the size, and the crisp, contemporary interior feels calm and uncluttered.
