Life in the Palm is a bright, stylish two-bedroom villa set within a gated hillside resort at Tamarind Hills, on Antigua's calm west coast between the beaches of Darkwood and Ffryes. Compact but beautifully done, it is built around its view: a private infinity pool runs to the edge of a wrap-around terrace and seems to pour into the Caribbean below, with sun loungers and a barbecue for lazy days and sunset dinners. Inside, the villa is crisp and white, with an open-plan living and dining room, a full kitchen with an island, and two en-suite bedrooms that both look out to sea. It sleeps four, which makes it ideal for two couples or a small family who want privacy and a knockout view without the scale of a big villa. Better still, guests have the run of the resort's facilities, a beach club, a gym, a spa, a bar and a beachfront restaurant, all a short walk or buggy ride away, with a white-sand beach just below. Jolly Harbour, with its shops and restaurants, is a short drive, and the wider island is easy to explore. V. C. Bird International Airport is around a 35 to 40 minute drive.

The dry season from December to April is the classic time to visit, with warm, sunny days, gentle trade winds and calm, clear water in the bay. May and early summer stay bright and quieter. June to November is the Atlantic hurricane season, hotter and more humid with the odd heavy shower, though the sheltered west coast makes an easy time to relax by the pool.
01The Architecture
The villa is one of a cluster stepping down the hillside of a gated resort, positioned so that the living level and pool terrace command a clean sweep of the bay. The style is contemporary Caribbean: white rendered walls, dark timber beams, deep roof overhangs for shade and glass balustrades that keep the view open. Wide sliding doors fold the…
02The Interior
Inside, the mood is fresh, white and uncluttered. Pale sofas and soft neutrals sit against crisp white walls, with woven pendants, sea-toned art and vaulted timber ceilings adding warmth and character. The open-plan living and dining room flows onto the terrace so the sea is always in view, and the full white kitchen has an island and breakfast bar for…
03The Outdoor
The outdoors is the whole point of Life in the Palm. A private infinity pool runs along the wrap-around terrace, its edge merging with the sea, with sun loungers set out to catch the sun and the breeze. A barbecue and an outdoor table make alfresco dinners easy, and the terrace wraps the villa so there is always a spot…
