Hills of Antigua is a bright two-bedroom villa within a scenic gated resort at Tamarind Hills, on Antigua's calm west coast between the beaches of Darkwood and Ffryes. Arranged over two floors and built around its view, the villa's real showpiece is a private saltwater infinity pool that runs to the edge of the terrace and looks straight out over the Caribbean Sea. Inside, an open-plan living and dining room and a full kitchen with a breakfast bar all open to the water, while the two en-suite bedrooms, one with a king bed, one twin, each have their own private balcony and wake to the sea. It sleeps four, which makes it a natural fit for two couples or a small family who want a private, view-led base without the scale of a large villa. Guests also have the run of the resort, a beach club, a gym, a spa, a bar and a beachfront restaurant, with a white-sand beach just below. Jolly Harbour, with its shops and restaurants, is a short drive, and the wider island is easy to explore. V. C. Bird International Airport is around a 35 to 40 minute drive.

Why we chose it

We chose it for the view and the ease. The saltwater infinity pool and the sea views from every room would headline a much larger house, and the two-floor layout gives the pair of bedrooms a little separation. For two couples or a small family it is just right, private and low-key, yet backed by a full resort with a beach club, spa, gym and restaurants a short stroll away. Sitting between Darkwood and Ffryes, two of Antigua's finest beaches, and a short drive from Jolly Harbour, it is a smart, view-led base that makes the most of a beautiful stretch of coast.
