Meribel 139 is an eight-bedroom traditional chalet on the road of La Renarde, one of Meribel's most sought-after addresses, in the heart of the Trois Vallees. This is the classic Savoyard chalet done at scale: low beamed ceilings, walls of aged timber and stone, velvet sofas gathered around open fires, and a warmth that a more minimal chalet cannot match. The main floor runs from a double lounge to a long dining room under a chandelier, with a well-equipped kitchen and a raclette and fondue set-up for the evenings when nobody wants to leave. Behind it lies a genuine wellness wing: an indoor swimming pool with its own fireside relaxation lounge, a sauna, a home gym and a separate massage room, along with a home cinema, a games room and a refrigerated wine cellar. Eight bedrooms sleep fourteen, the great majority en-suite, ranging from a mountain-view master to family rooms with bunks and a cot and high chair for the youngest. The nearest slope is 300 metres away and the resort's main lift and ski school around 1.4 kilometres, with a garage and ski room for kit. The nearest commercial airport is Chambery Savoie Mont Blanc, around a 1 hour 45 minute drive; Lyon and Geneva are roughly two to two and a half hours.

Why we chose it

We chose Meribel 139 for the character its size does not usually allow. Large chalets often turn corporate and cold; this one stays a warm, timbered Savoyard house across eight bedrooms, which makes it ideal for two or three families or a big group of friends. The address helps, the road of La Renarde is quiet and central in equal measure, and the facilities are complete: an indoor pool with a fireside lounge, a sauna, gym, massage room, cinema, games room and wine cellar mean nobody is short of something to do off the mountain. With slopes 300 metres away and Meribel at the centre of the Trois Vallees, it is a genuinely flexible base for a large party.

The chalet is on the road of La Renarde in Meribel, at the centre of the Trois Vallees in the French Alps. The nearest slope, Doron, is 300 metres away and the main lift and ski school around 1.4 kilometres, opening some 600 kilometres of linked piste across Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens.

It sleeps up to 14 across eight bedrooms, most of them en-suite, ranging from a mountain-view master to family rooms with bunks. A cot and high chair are available for young children.

The chalet is offered on a self-catered basis, with a fully equipped kitchen including raclette and fondue. A dedicated guest experience manager arranges transfers, lift passes and extras, and a private chef, catering and additional staff can be added on request.

The nearest commercial airport is Chambery Savoie Mont Blanc (CMF), about 1 hour 45 minutes by road. Lyon Saint-Exupery (LYS) and Geneva (GVA) are each around two to two and a half hours, and the Moutiers rail station about 30 minutes below. For private aviation, Meribel has its own altiport nearby, with Courchevel Altiport (CVF) over the ridge and Chambery and Geneva handling larger jets.
