Meribel 139 is an eight-bedroom traditional chalet on the road of La Renarde, one of Meribel's most sought-after addresses, in the heart of the Trois Vallees. This is the classic Savoyard chalet done at scale: low beamed ceilings, walls of aged timber and stone, velvet sofas gathered around open fires, and a warmth that a more minimal chalet cannot match. The main floor runs from a double lounge to a long dining room under a chandelier, with a well-equipped kitchen and a raclette and fondue set-up for the evenings when nobody wants to leave. Behind it lies a genuine wellness wing: an indoor swimming pool with its own fireside relaxation lounge, a sauna, a home gym and a separate massage room, along with a home cinema, a games room and a refrigerated wine cellar. Eight bedrooms sleep fourteen, the great majority en-suite, ranging from a mountain-view master to family rooms with bunks and a cot and high chair for the youngest. The nearest slope is 300 metres away and the resort's main lift and ski school around 1.4 kilometres, with a garage and ski room for kit. The nearest commercial airport is Chambery Savoie Mont Blanc, around a 1 hour 45 minute drive; Lyon and Geneva are roughly two to two and a half hours.

Winter is the headline: Meribel and the Trois Vallees hold reliable snow from December to April across a huge high-altitude area. Christmas, New Year and February half-term are peak and priciest; mid-January and mid-March give the same conditions with quieter slopes. Summer is green and calm, good for walking, mountain biking and golf, and the indoor pool, sauna and cinema keep the chalet appealing whatever the season.
01The Architecture
Meribel 139 is built in the protected regional style that gives Meribel its uniformity, stone and timber under a broad pitched roof, but it is a substantial house behind that familiar face. Inside, the defining feature is the woodwork: low, closely spaced beams in pale aged timber run across every ceiling, the walls are clad in the same weathered boards,…
02The Interior
The interior is warm, layered and unmistakably alpine. The main living floor holds a double lounge of deep velvet sofas around stone fireplaces, a long dining room beneath an antler chandelier, and a kitchen fitted for serious cooking, complete with raclette and fondue. Old timber lines the walls and ceilings throughout, softened by fur throws, cowhide and warm lighting. The…
03The Outdoor
For a chalet of its size, Meribel 139 keeps its focus indoors, which suits a high-altitude ski house. Balconies and a terrace off the main rooms and bedrooms give places to take in the mountain and forest views and a coffee in the morning sun, but the real outdoor life is on the piste. The nearest slope, Doron, is 300…
04The Location
Meribel sits at the centre of the Trois Vallees, the most connected position in the world's largest linked ski area, and the road of La Renarde is among its most desirable addresses, quiet and residential yet close to the pistes and the resort's Rond-Point des Pistes. The chalet is in the commune of Les Allues, at around 1,450 metres. The…
