Courchevel 26 is a smart five-bedroom chalet in the heart of Courchevel 1850, the most prestigious resort in the Trois Vallees, the world's largest linked ski area. Arranged over 254 square metres for up to ten guests, it pairs a central position, 150 metres from the resort centre and around 220 metres from the Cospillot lift, with its own wellness area: a private indoor pool, a hammam, a massage room, a bar and a relaxation lounge. Five en-suite bedrooms, two with balconies, sit above a living room with a wall of glass framing the peaks, and a lift links the floors. Mornings are looked after by a daily chef who prepares breakfast, with a housekeeper for the daily clean and champagne, flowers and a welcome basket on arrival. The boutiques, bars and Michelin-starred restaurants of 1850 are a couple of minutes' walk, and the lifts into the whole Trois Vallees are just up the road. It suits a family or group who want a central base with a pool and spa without the price of the very largest chalets. Chambery Airport is around a one hour forty-five drive, and the Courchevel altiport is minutes away.

In summer the mountains reopen for hiking, biking and golf, quiet and green, though most guests come for the ski season.

Why we chose it

We chose it for the position and the value. A central Courchevel 1850 chalet with its own indoor pool, hammam and massage room is a rare find, and having the boutiques, restaurants and lifts a short walk away means no car is needed day to day. It is more intimate than the grand ski-in ski-out houses, which makes it a sensible choice for a family or group of friends who want the best resort in the Alps, a pool and spa to come home to, and a lighter touch of service with a breakfast chef and housekeeper. For prime-spot 1850 at a gentler price, it is hard to beat.
