The living room opens across the lawn to the beach and the sea beyond.

From above, the villa, pool and lawn meet the white-sand beach.

The pool and lawn run down towards the sea.
Moonlight Beauty is a beachfront villa of real architectural pedigree, set directly on the sand of Barbados' celebrated Platinum Coast. Designed by an award-winning local practice, it opens completely to the sea: broad living pavilions with high timber ceilings slide away to manicured lawns that run down to a white-sand beach, and the sunsets over the Caribbean are a nightly event on this west-facing shore. A long pool and a shaded gazebo sit on the lawn, and the house is exceptionally well equipped for a group of twelve, with a home gym, a glass-walled study and a yoga pavilion set among the gardens. Six en-suite bedrooms each have their own private terrace, most with sea or garden views, and a collection of bold contemporary art runs throughout, giving the calm, pale interiors real character. A housekeeping team is on hand throughout the stay, with a concierge and a private chef available. You can stroll straight onto the beach, with the boutiques and restaurants of the Platinum Coast close by. It suits a family or group who want a beachfront setting, striking design and full service. Grantley Adams International Airport is around a 45 minute to one hour drive.

Barbados is a year-round destination, but the dry season from December to April is the classic time to visit, with warm, sunny days, low humidity and the west coast at its most sociable. May and early summer stay bright and quieter. June to November is warmer and more humid with the odd shower, and falls within the Atlantic hurricane season, though Barbados sits at the southern edge of the belt and direct strikes are rare.
01The Architecture
Moonlight Beauty is a confident piece of contemporary Caribbean architecture. The house is composed as a series of pavilions with high, hipped timber roofs and deep eaves, arranged so that the main living spaces open fully to the sea through walls of glass that slide away entirely. Coral stone, pale render and warm timber ground the design in its setting,…
02The Interior
Inside, the villa is calm, pale and full of art. Coral stone and white walls are warmed by timber floors and ceilings, with linen sofas, woven and carved furniture and sculptural lamps, and everywhere a collection of large, colourful contemporary paintings that give the rooms life. The main living pavilions are vast and open, sliding away to the terraces so…
03The Outdoor
The outdoors is exceptional. Manicured lawns run from the living pavilions down to a white-sand beach, framed by mature palms, so the sea fills the view and the sound of the waves carries up to the house. A long pool and a shaded gazebo sit on the lawn, with sun loungers set out to catch the day and the sunset,…
