Santa Eulalia sits on the east coast of Ibiza, and it works differently from the rest of the island. The marina is calm, the promenade is genuinely local in character, and the hills behind the town are quiet enough to hear cicadas from a villa terrace at dusk. This is not the Ibiza of festival lineups and superclub queues. It is the version that long-term visitors keep coming back to.
For villa travellers, that distinction matters. The southwest concentrates most of the island's rental properties, positioned to catch the famous sunsets and stay close to the clubs. Santa Eulalia operates on a different set of priorities. Villas here sit in quieter residential pockets or out towards the countryside. The beaches are wide and sandy without the crowds. Families and couples who want genuine privacy, rather than proximity to nightlife, consistently choose this corner of the island.

The Character of the Area
The town itself is compact and walkable. The paseo maritimo runs along the waterfront and has retained something that other parts of the island have lost: real bakeries, families in the evenings, streets that go quiet after midnight. The marina has a concentration of good restaurants and fills with sailing boats from June through September.
Fifteen minutes inland, Sant Carles de Peralta is one of the most photographed villages in the Balearics and one of the few places where the hippie legacy feels genuine rather than packaged. Bar Anita has been operating since 1950 and remains one of the best afternoon stops on the island.
For travellers who want a base that connects them to the whole island rather than locking them into one corner, Santa Eulalia's position is useful. Ibiza Town is twenty minutes by car. The central island, including Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera and its galleries and farm-to-table restaurants, is fifteen minutes. The north, around Portinatx and Cala San Vicente, is forty minutes.
Beaches Near Santa Eulalia
The east coast beaches do not have the profile of Cala Comte or Ses Salines. That is, in practice, an advantage.
Cala Llenya is a wide sandy bay about ten minutes from the town centre. It stays manageable even in August, the water is clear, and the facilities are good without being overrun. This is the main beach for villa guests based in the area.
Cala Nova is a surf-friendly bay popular with families, with a relaxed beach bar and gentle enough waves for children. It draws a younger crowd than Cala Llenya and has a slightly more social atmosphere.
Es Canar hosts a Wednesday hippie market that draws visitors from across the island. It is one of the few markets in Ibiza genuinely worth the trip. The original Punta Arabi market has been running since 1973 and still has a character that the newer island markets lack.
Cala Martina is a sheltered cove further north, small and relatively quiet, and worth knowing if you want somewhere to spend a slow afternoon away from the main beaches.

Getting There and Getting Around
Ibiza Airport (IBZ) is on the south of the island, approximately 25 minutes from Santa Eulalia by car. In July and August, allow extra time on the main road south. A hire car is strongly recommended: the east coast roads are straightforward to drive, and access to the central island and north is easy from this base. Taxis are available from the marina if you prefer not to drive.
