Villa Favolosa is a six-bedroom luxury villa in Positano on the Amalfi Coast, set 800 metres from the town centre with sea views across the cliffs and shoreline. The property spreads across three floors linked by a private lift, with a wellness level at the base that sets it apart from most comparably priced Amalfi villas: a heated indoor pool with jacuzzi jets, a steam room, sauna and a dedicated treatment room sit below the main living spaces. Six en suite double bedrooms accommodate up to twelve guests, with one bedroom opening directly to a private terrace with its own Jacuzzi. The open-plan kitchen and dining area on the first lower floor opens to a terrace for twelve, and a private staircase from the property leads down to the town and beach. Daily breakfast service is included, with a cook and full concierge service available on request. A pizza oven and barbecue complete the outdoor cooking facilities. The villa is listed with CV Villas and sits within their ABOVE collection, which includes dedicated concierge support from the point of booking. At this scale and price point on the Amalfi Coast, the combination of a genuine indoor wellness area, sea-view terraces and a private staircase to town is genuinely uncommon. It suits large families or groups of friends who want resort-level amenities within a private villa, within walking distance of one of Italy's most photographed towns.

Best time to visit

spring

moderate crowdgood value

Late May on the Amalfi Coast offers warm, settled weather and full access to Positano's restaurants and beaches before the summer crowds and coastal road congestion reach their peak.

Late spring and early autumn are the strongest windows for the Amalfi Coast: May and September in particular offer warm, reliable weather, manageable crowd levels and full access to all restaurants and boat services. July and August are the peak months, when the coast road becomes heavily congested and Positano is extremely busy. The villa's indoor wellness facilities make it a workable choice outside the summer season, when sea temperatures are cooler.

winter

dec · jan · feb

Mild by northern European standards but notably cooler and wetter than summer, with average daytime temperatures around 12-15°C. Rain is more frequent and some coastal businesses close for the off-season.

8-15°C

low crowdexcellent value

Many restaurants and boat hire operators close between November and March. Verify that preferred dining and excursion options are open before confirming dates. Rates are at their lowest and availability is generally good.

spring

Recommended

mar · apr · may

Warm and increasingly sunny from April onwards, with May delivering reliable warm weather, clear skies and sea temperatures beginning to rise. Light rain is possible in March and April.

13-22°C

moderate crowdgood value

May is increasingly popular and the best villas book out several months in advance. March and April offer good availability and lower rates, with the trade-off of cooler and occasionally unsettled weather.

summer

jun · jul · aug

Hot, sunny and dry throughout, with July and August reaching peak heat. The sea is warm and ideal for swimming. The Amalfi Coast road and Positano itself become very busy from late June.

24-32°C

peak crowdpremium value

July and August require booking 6 to 12 months in advance for premium villas in Positano. Amalfi Coast road traffic is severe in peak summer and transfers from Naples can take 2.5 to 3 hours. Boat transfers from Naples or Sorrento are worth considering as an alternative.

autumn

sep · oct · nov

September is warm, sunny and significantly quieter than August, making it arguably the finest month on the Amalfi Coast. October brings cooler temperatures and increasing cloud. November is markedly wetter.

14-26°C

moderate crowdgood value

September is the strongest value window on the Amalfi Coast: weather remains excellent, the sea is warm and prices are lower than August. Availability at sought-after villas is still limited in early September, so book several months ahead. October and November offer easy availability but cooler, more unpredictable weather.

Why we chose it

The indoor pool is the detail that elevates Villa Favolosa above the majority of Amalfi Coast villas. Most properties at this price point offer an outdoor pool or a hot tub. This one has a heated indoor pool with jacuzzi jets, a steam room, sauna and a treatment room, making it functional regardless of weather and genuinely spa-like rather than a checkbox amenity. Staying here feels more self-contained than comparable Positano villas because you never have to leave for wellness. The private staircase down to the town and beach is the other detail worth noting: it gives guests direct access to Positano's main beach and shops without navigating the main road, which matters more than it sounds on the Amalfi Coast.

01The Architecture

Villa Favolosa is built into the cliff face in the characteristic Amalfi Coast style, with its three floors arranged vertically down the hillside rather than horizontally across a flat plot. A private lift connects all levels, which is a practical necessity given the vertical drop between the entrance and the wellness level at the base. The terraces are integrated into…

02The Interior

The interior is furnished in a style that references traditional southern Italian craft without tipping into the rustic. Intricate mosaic tiles appear throughout, a material deeply rooted in the Amalfi Coast's decorative tradition, set against neutral soft furnishings that keep the spaces calm. The open-plan kitchen and dining area is designed for communal use, with a table configured for all…

03The Outdoor

The main terrace runs off the open-plan dining level and is furnished for both sun and shade, with comfortable seating in the open and a covered al fresco dining area. A barbecue and pizza oven are positioned on the terrace for outdoor cooking. A private staircase descends from the terrace to the town and beach below, giving direct pedestrian access…

04The Location

Villa Favolosa sits 800 metres from the centre of Positano, one of the Amalfi Coast's most celebrated towns, with a private staircase connecting the property directly to the town and beach below. Positano Fornillo beach is 700 metres away and the main Positano beach is 1.2 kilometres. The surrounding area offers straightforward day-trip access to the key Amalfi Coast and…
